  • عنوان البحث : Thermal Performance of Plastic Receiver in Solar Collector

    A plastic tubes used as absorber of active flat plate solar collector (FPSC) for heating water were studied numerically and experimentally. The set-up is located in Babylon (republic of Iraq) 43.80 East longitude and 32.30 North latitude with titled of 450 toward the south direction. The study involved three dimensions mathematical model for flat coil plastic absorber which solved by FLUENT-ANSYS-R.18 program. Experiments were conducted at outdoor conditions for clear days on January and February 2018 with various water volume flow rates namely (500, 750, 1000, 1250, and 1500 Liter per hour LPH) on each month for Reynolds number range of (1 x 104 to 5 x 104) through the receiver. The experimental results showed improvement in absorber input - output temperature difference, collector efficiency, and water storage temperature; the maximum input - output temperature difference is 3.1 °C, the maximum collector efficiency is 79%, and the maximum water storage temperature is 67 °C. The comparison validates a good agreement between the numerical and experimental results at variable operation conditions with maximum deviation of 4.2%. Also the experimental results were compared with previous study for similar condition and gave a good improvement.

  • عنوان البحث : Experimental Investigation of Using Ethanol-Gasoline in Spark Ignition Engine

    The consequence of mixing pure ethanol with gasoline on the pollution and performance of SI engine are investigated experimentally in the existent study. The SI engine that employed in the experiment is a single cylinder four stroke. Analysis is carried out for engine operation parameter, CO2, CO and unburned HC productions. The measurements are recorded for several engine speeds from 1500 – 3000 rpm with load and ethanol addition of (0E, 10E, 20E, 30E, 40E, 50E,). The results displayed increasing in brake power, and brake thermal efficiency while the brake specific fuel consumption decreases when the ethanol- gasoline blends fuel increases. Also it was found that CO, HC, and CO2 concentrations decrease when the ethanol- gasoline increases. The best results obtained in the study is for the blend of E-50

    This work presents experimental investigations of the performance for a solar dryer with and without phase change material (PCM) used to dry Eruca Sativa foodstuffs. This dryer is consists of a solar collector with dimensions of (1000 mm as width by 1000 mm depth and by 1000 mm highest) which includes dryer chamber and the heat storage container inside it. The experimental work included the design and fabrication of the solar dryer, and the outdoor tests of the system.
