    ملخص البحث :

The prevalence of lung cancer as one of the most common cancers with the highest mortality rate is one of the most important health problems in humans across the world. Molecular research can provide valuable information about genetic changes associated with the pathogenesis of the disease that may be used to improve prognosis and treatment. The current study aimed to examine the genotyping utility of the Il12p40 (IL-12B) gene (rs3212227, A>C) polymorphisms and detect its relationship with the concentration levels of HGH and IGF-1 for the non-small cell lung carcinoma (NSCLC). This study investigated 67 cases with NSCLC (60 males and 7 females) and 28 healthy individuals as controls. The serum level of HGH and IGF-1 was determined using an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Genotyping of the IL-12B gene polymorphisms (rs3212227, A>C) was carried out by polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism. The serum levels of the HGH and IGF-1 were estimated, and the results of the IL-12B genotyping showed an increased risk of NSCLC. The homozygous wild (AA) genotype of the IL-12 gene showed that the risk of NSCLC was higher than that of the heterozygous (AC) and homozygous genotypes (CC). Moreover, a significant elevation was found in the serum levels of the HGH in the NSCLC patients, compared to the control group. The result showed that the IL12 gene polymorphism was implicated in the pathogenesis of the NSCLC and directed several metabolic changes.

  • عنوان البحث : A PHYSIOLOGICAL STUDY TO SHOW THE EFFECT OF SEMEN FREEZING ON SPERM PARAMETERS AND ITS RELATIONSHIP TO THE SUCCESS RATES OF IVF OPERATIONS

    ملخص البحث :

Abstract: The study aimed to try to identify the effect of rapid freezing and thawing processes on the parameters of semen and sperm, interleukin-10 and the concentration of Almalone Dialdehyde (MDA), in addition to studying the effect of adding types of antioxidants, which included vitamin C to the sperm freezing medium, in reducing the negative effects resulting from the freezing processes. Rapid and dissolving in the sperm. The study included the use of Normozoospermic sperm, and the number of samples was 16 samples of semen samples. The mean age of both sperms was (29.2 ± 1.11 years). The study of the freezing time by calculating the parameters of the sperm in the sixth month after freezing and thawing compared to before freezing and thawing for samples of the subjects included in the study showed a significant decrease (P<0.05) in the percentage of sperms with progressive movement and the percentage of sperm viability and a significant increase ( P<0.05) in the averages of MDA concentration and no significant differences (P<0.05) in sperm concentration, percentage of normal sperm, circulating cells concentration and interleukin-10 concentration in the sixth month after freezing and thawing compared to before freezing and thawing. The results of the study showed that the use of sperm freezing medium (Sperm Freeze) added to the antioxidants of the type C vitamin led to significant differences (P<0.05) in the studied parameters of the sperm of the subjects included in the study, which led to a significant (P<0.05) increase in The percentage of sperms with progressive motility and the percentage of sperms viability and a significant decrease (P<0.05) in the rates of each of the concentrations of Malone Dialdehyde and the absence of significant differences (P<0.05) in each of the sperm concentration and the percentage of normal sperms and The concentration of circulating cells and the concentration of interleukin-10 when comparing their rates with the use of sperm freezing medium alone or before freezing. It is concluded from this study that the processes of rapid freezing and thawing of sperm have negative effects on the parameters of semen and sperm and the concentration of Malone Dialdehyde (MDA) Which leads to lower pregnancy rates and IVF technical success, and that the addition of antioxidants of vitamin C type to the medium of freezing sperm (Sperm Freeze) showed resistance to these negative effects reflected in a significant improvement in studied landmarks.

  • عنوان البحث : Presepsin level in children infected with community-acquired pneumonia

    ملخص البحث :

Abstract---Objective: To investigate the expression of Presepsin (PSEP) in children infected with Community-acquired pneumonia and its correlation with total white blood cell count (WBC), gender and age. The current study included sixty (60) patient suffering from acquired community pneumonia aged range between one year to larger than 6 years, gander (30) female and (30) male Children in Al Zahara Teaching Hospitals in Najaf Provenance , during November 2020 – March 2021. The (30) control Child without suffering any of symptoms or criteria of acquired community pneumonia our results show significant elevation (p<0.05) in Total Leukocytes count and presepsin in pneumonia patient group in comparison with control group and non-significant (p>0.05) different in presepsin level between female and male pneumonia child patients. The results also indicate significant elevation (p <0.05) in serum presepsin level of pneumonia child patient among the age (1-3 y) when compare with among the ages (4-6 y) and (>6y) of pneumonia child patient .And there is no significant (p>0.05) different in presepsin between the ages (4-6y) when compare with ages (>6y).

  • عنوان البحث : Study the Effects of Some Hormonal and Physiological Parameters in Patients with Thyroid Disease

    ملخص البحث :

The thyroid disease is a common disease of occurrence for different causes which including thyroid hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism that reflecting deficient and excess thyroid hormone secretion respectively . There are relationship between thyroid hormones and metabolism and the metabolic rate through the influence of these hormones on the metabolism of carbohydrates, fats and proteins and thus energy produced from the hydrolysis of these compounds. In the present study, after blood sample was collected from twenty adults was conducted on newly clinical and laboratory diagnosed patients of thyroid disease and twenty healthy control group, thyroid hormone analysis to determine the thyroid disease and estimate of serum electrolytes (Na, K) conc. with glucose and cholesterol also were determined. .This study suggested a significant degree association between thyroid hormone ( T3, T4, TSH) and electrolytes (Na, K) and glucose with cholesterol in the patients as compared with healthy groups. The results were revealed that serum TSH levels were significantly higher in cases (14.62± 16.07 μIU /ml) as compared to healthy group (1.349± 0.8096μIU/ml) at ( P < 0.05) and serum potassium(K) was significantly decreased (37.56 ± 4.922) in patients than control (40.87± 2.513) at ( P < 0.05), and the results of the present study showed a significant correlation between hormonal with electrolytes and biochemical criteria when compared with one another and with the healthy controls. The study concluded that the relationship between thyroid dysfunction and serum abnormal electrolyte with physiological parameters in that patients. As the results of this study it will be indicate that the serum electrolytes were significantly imbalanced in patients of thyroid disease , so it should be checked for serum electrolytes and biochemicals to prevent the possible complications.
