  • عنوان البحث : A STUDY OF ACCUMULATION OF SOME HEAVY METALS IN FISH (CYPRINUS CARPIO) IN EUPHRATES RIVER IN BABYLON

    ملخص البحث :

This study was conducted in the period from July 1st to September 30st, 2018 to evaluate contamination in common carp in Euphrates riverwith heavy metals (Cd, Pb, Zn, Cu and As). Fish samples were randomly collected in various lengths and weights from two points onEuphrates: the first point was in Barnoon area and the other one was Al-Shawi (18 kilometers from city center). Samples were examined inModern Science Lab in Diwaniyah. There were a significant differences(p 0.01) between the two points in terms of water pollution assample from the second point contained higher pollution level (Cd in liver, gills and muscles = 3.330±0.114, 3.130±0.321, 2.785±0.205; Pbin gills, liver and muscles = 22, 121±1.222, 12.655±0.092, 3.873±0.205; Zn, in liver, muscles, and gills = 16.021±2.983, 27.179±1.329,18.616±0.261; Cu in liver, gills and muscles = 17.358±0.617,6.964±0.530,4.112±0.341; and As in liver, muscles and gill = 16.732±2. 700,7.097±0.494, 4.045±0.165. respectively). Fish contamination depends on water pollution, nutrition, environment and the place where fishlive in the water column. Liver and gills were found to be more contaminated than muscles, as they showed high levels of heavy metalsbeyond the permissible limits set by FAO, especially in Zn and As. This has negative impact on fish growth, reproduction and health, whichin turn has improper effect on public health. This pollution is the product of dumping industrial waste and sewage water into the river. Suchfish became inconsumable for people as they cause accumulation of toxic materials in there bodies and might lead to certain diseases likecancer.

  • عنوان البحث : EFFECT OF USING CORN RESIDUES AS A SUBSTITUTES IN THE CAGE DIET OF COMMON CARP ON EUPHRATES RIVER

    ملخص البحث :

This experiment was conducted on common cage carp fishes bred in Euphrates River from 1st June to late October 2017. Cornresidues were used to replace barley as diet for being cheaper provender. Fish average weight was 140 + 17.8g and fed withvarious provender types with variant corn percentages The fishes sample were divided, which were 1000, into four diettreatments with two replications for each. The first treatment was the control which contains 15% barley without cornresidue, the second treatment was given a mix of 10% barley and 5% corn, the third treatments was given a mix of 5% barleyand 10% corn residue, and the fourth one was given diet with 15% corn without barley. Fish weights and weight wiredmonthly measured by taking 260 randomly sample of fish gain as 20% of the sample was weighed randomly. Results showedthat fish, which were fed with variant corn redid diet, gained significant weight (P<0.05) and that the fourth treatment with15% corn residue diet gained higher weight than the other treatments, which was achieved by two cost diet.

  • عنوان البحث : Treatment of natural infection in pigeons birds with coccidiosis by using ginger extract in Babylon province

    ملخص البحث :

Twenty-five sample pigeon faeces were examined to detect the prevalence of natural infection of coccidiosis among these birds. Out of 25 pigeons examined , 21 birds were found infected ( 84%) , 12 infected pigeons were males (85.7% ) and 9 were female (81.8%).Flotation by zinc sulphate was the best method for diagnosis of the parasite oocystes in the faeces of the birds comparison to the direct examination, with significant differences was p >0.05.The extract of ginger (Zingibar officinale ) exhibited high efficiency in treatment of infected pigeons with coccidiosis, and the highest efficiency 91% was by using 10% of the extract, with significant differences on level p >0.05 comparison to that of 5% which was 70%.

  • عنوان البحث : EFFECT OF USING LOPERAMIDE HYDROCHLORIDE ON SOME PRODUCTION TRAITS IN BROILER CHICKENS

    ملخص البحث :

Abstract: This experiment was conducted at a Al-Mussaib technical institute poultry farm from 25/3/2014 to 5/5/2014 to evaluate the effect of using loperamide hydrochloride on body weight, weight gain, feed conversion ratio and feed intake on Ross 308 broiler chickens. Fifty four chicks at age 14 days were divided into two equal (control and treatment) groups with three replicates for each group. Feed and water were ad libitum. At 14 days of age the control group treated with water without any addition while 1mg loperamide hydrochloride was added to drinking water of the treatment group. Primary chicks body weight, weekly and final; body weight, weight gain, feed intake, feed conversion ratio were estimated, as well as final blood glucose and packed cell volume were estimated at the end of experiment. The results indicated that no significant differences were found in weekly and final body weights, packed cell volume and blood glucose, but there were significant (P≤0.01) differences in weekly and final feed intake and feed conversion ratio between control and treatment group. That’s might be due to loperamide hydrochloride for reducing intestinal motility and increase digestion and absorption time of nutrients in the feed. This experiment was indicated that loperamide hydrochloride can be used in poultry production to increase nutrients absorption efficiency in the feed and decrease wastes in ration.
