  • عنوان البحث : First Record of Cryptococcus Gattii (VGI) that Causes Vulvovaginitis in Iraq

    ملخص البحث :

    : Background and Purpose: Cryptococcus. gattii is a non-Cryptococcus neoformans species isolated from certain plants and some animals. Case Report: This report describes a case of a 35-year-old Iraqi female with pruritus and vaginal irritation. Conventional tests and molecular analysis of the samples of vaginal discharge were performed. The mentioned analyses revealed Cryptococcus gattii as the causative agent of vaginal infection. The sensitivity tests revealed that this species is susceptible to clotrimazole and nystatin. Conclusion: C. gattii was found to have the ability to cause vulvovaginitis. This is the first report of successful detection and treatment of vulvovaginal infection with C. gattii

  • عنوان البحث : Susceptibility of clinical Candida albicans isolates to oak extract that resistance antifungal compounds

    The study was conducted with the aim of detecting the causes of vaginitis infection in women and testing the efficacy of some antifungal compounds in treating the disease and the resistance of the isolated types of these antifungals. The study included isolating 125 samples using swabs for women with symptoms of injury in the cities of Al-Hilla and AlDiwanyia for the period from September 2019 to December 2019. The results showed that the rate of 73% was fungal infection and 25.4% non-fungal infection C.albicans is resistance to against the antifungals, as 6 isolates resistant to fluconazol and nystatin were obtained. While these isolates were sensitive to cherrybark oak plant extract Keywords: Candida albicans , antifungal compound, oak extract

    Aspergillosis is a fungal disease caused by Aspergillus sp., a filamentous fungus that is found in the air. Invasive pulmonary aspergillosis is known to affect immunocompromised patients.80 sputum sample collect from cancer patient infected with pneumonia. This sample cultured on SDA for isolation and identification Aspergillus spp. And test the sensitivity of Aspergillus to antifungal. diagnosis by macroscopic and microscopic examination. The result show the most Aspergillus sp. causes pneumonia, A.fumigatus represent 12 (40 %) following by A.niger 8 (26.7%),A.terrus 4(13.3%) and A.flavus 2 (6.7%).Alternaria sp. 2(6.7%) and Pencillum sp. 2 (6.7%) also isolated. antifungal test shows that 8 isolates A. niger resistance to itraconazole and all other Aspergillus sensitive. Two isolated Aspergillus flavus resistance to nystatin and other Aspergillus are sensitive

  • عنوان البحث : Molecular diagnosis and phylogenetic analysis of 5.8s rDNA of gene of cutaneous leishmaniasis isolated from patients in holy Karbala

    Leishmaniasis is a parasitic disease caused by haemoflagellate Leishmania . The disease is widespread and may cause serious health problems in communities throughout the Mediterranean regions and the Middle East, including Iraq. There are about 12 million cases worldwide, and there are about 1.5 million new cases of cutaneous leishmaniasis each year. Cutaneous leishmaniasis (CL) is a major public health problem and an endemic disease in Iraqi population, so this study was conducted to find the best method for the diagnosis, by "Molecular diagnosis and phylogenetic tree analysis to detection of the cutaneous leishmaniasis species in Karbala city by Nested PCR. Results of laboratory with microscope examination of one hundred patients cases showed (92) cases were infected while (8) is not in Cutaneous leishmaniasis that 72 males that percentage (78.3)% and 20 females that percentage (21.7)% with age ranged 10-59 years, attended to Department of Dermatology Al-Husseini Hospital in Karbala during the period between November 2017 to end January 2018
